Breuer joined Deutsche Bank in 1962 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming CEO in 1989. During his tenure, he oversaw the bank's expansion into global markets, including the acquisition of Morgan Grenfell in 1990 and Bankers Trust in 1999.
